Heckler and Koch: The Story
After WWII, and the fall of Nazi Germany, Allied forces began the process of disarming the German military. At one of Germany's many Mauser AG rifle factories, the Allied Garrison commander ordered all IP and technology destroyed or turned over the Allied Supreme Command. Three engineers, Edmund Heckler, Theodor Koch, and Alex Seidel, stole away what technical information they could and fled. What they salvaged they used to start up the private Engineering Office, Heckler and Co. Years later, with the Iron Curtain having descended upon Germany, the West German government set up a competition for a new service rifle for the Bundeswehr, or West German Military. Using their technical knowledge, and an abandoned Spanish rifle design, they developed the G3 Battle Rifle. Soon, the German Army was mass producing it, and Heckler and Koch was born. Soon, they had developed a reputation for ingenuitive and high quality weapons, with famous and venerable designs such as the G3, the HK21, the G36 and the world famous MP5 family. Since then, H&K has been determined to bring high quality weapons and attachments to people all over the world.
